Confused by Blockchain? In this session, you’ll discover the basics of Blockchain and why it is relevant for your business. Learn how Blockchain is far more than just cryptocurrency, and how it is set to bring trust to business networks and bring about a whole new generation of transactional applications. To be ready, it is essential that businesses move beyond their own verticals and foster ecosystems that many business leaders have not imagined.

Attendees will:

1. Learn how to explain how blockchain works to non-technical professionals.
2. Recognize the differences between private and public blockchain solutions.
3. Understand where blockchain technology is being used today and what value it drives for enterprises.
4. Identify use cases in your profession where blockchain technology could be leveraged.

Presented by Shari L. Diaz

Shari has 20 years of professional experience, 16 of which with IBM spanning Engineering, Sales, Customer Fulfillment, Services and Hardware Procurement, Global Business Transformation, eCommerce and most recently Watson Supply Chain Offering Management. She is a global program director and has deep expertise in supply chain strategy and operations management, eCommerce/B2B trends and technology, and large-scale business transformation and innovation. She has extensive experience in the Retail, Utility, Industrial and Airline/Travel industries.

Shari is a proven business leader with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University and an MBA focused on International Management from Thunderbird.

With degrees and experience in both business and engineering, her passion is problem solving and process improvement, using data-driven decisions and continuous improvement methods. Her current focus is building out the IBM Supply Chain Cognitive, Blockchain and IoT strategy.
