FAR April Luncheon
"Making the Most of Your Leadership"

Stories have power. Stories move you in ways that facts and figures can't; they impact actions and engage others. And every leader has a personal story. That's where Tim Tobin started his presentation on April 20. Finding your own story has the potential of increasing your leadership quotient. But to do that you need to start with awareness - awareness of both your own perceptions and those of the people around you.

Consider these elements of your story: (1) the plot. The plot is your purpose, your "why" of doing what you do. (2) the characters. You have protagonists and antagonists in your story. Who are they? Who has influenced you the most? How? (3) the conflict. You've dealt with obstacles and challenges. What did you learn about yourself in these situations? (4) the theme. What are the key themes of your life? This is your personal mission. And (5) the setting. Where do you demonstrate leadership?

In this session Tim provided attendees with several opportunities to answer these questions quietly. There's more on Tim's approach in his visuals, available by clicking here and in his book, Your Leadership Story.
